Here is a list of links to official and unofficial
help, support and information sources for the
Interchange application server. As seen on TV.
If you know of any other websites or resources that
deserve to be listed then please let us know . You should also
feel free to visit the official #interchange IRC
chat channel at irc.icdevgroup.org .
Various interchange demo catalogues, payment
modules, UserTags and other goodies. This
section also includes an archive of current and
previous Interchange releases.
The Interchange CVS archive, in a web-based
format, that allows you to to browse
around. This link will take you to the
current CVS HEAD but you can use the select box
at the bottom of the page to change to any branch
in the archive. You can also connect to the
Interchange CVS archive directly by following the
instructions
on the official Interchange Developers' Resources
website.
The Interchange development version is now
built into an installable tar archive every day
at approximately 12:00 UTC
(12:00 GMT, 13:00 BST,
07:00 EST, 04:00
PST). If you'd like to try the very
latest version and don't want to use CVS then
this is the place to go. The standard
warnings about the stability of "unreleased"
development branch snapshots apply. Please
report any problems to the usual places, such as
the Interchange users' mail list.
If you use Microsoft Outlook as your email
client, you may have noticed that it doesn't
exactly feature the most intelligent quoting
algorithm; in fact, it's the silliest one
imaginable. Outlook-QuoteFix can modify
Outlook's message composition windows on-the-fly
to allow for correct quoting. People who
are unfortunate enough to be lumbered with
Microsoft Outlook Express (Outlook's poor cousin)
should install
OE-QuoteFix instead. Correct quoting
is required when posting followups to articles in
the various Interchange mail lists.
Incorrecly-quoted articles are likely to be the
subject of complaint from the regular posters, or
may simply be ignored. You have been
warned.
The latest Interchange application server
documentation. This is the "FM" that you
need to "R". This manual is one of the most
up-to-date sources of Interchange
information.
A small collection of HOWTO-style
documents. In fact, this collection is
embarassingly small. Documentation doesn't
write itself, so stop sponging and contribute
something to the project. You know you want
to.
Links to some of the more "interesting"
articles that have been posted to the
interchange-users mail list
and the Interchange web-BBS system over the
years.
Notes on how to upgrade to Interchange 5 from
earlier releases. A copy of this file is
distributed with Interchange 5.0.0 and later
versions. Please read this file, or your
local copy, BEFORE upgrading from a version older
than 5.0.0.
PIPEX's "WEBSELL toolkit" is a rebranded
Interchange 4.8 installation, so their
documentation is likely to be relevant to all
Interchange 4.8 administrators.
One of the best Perl documentation
websites. If you need to find something out
about a particular Perl module then the chances
are that perldoc.com will have the information
you're looking for.
This is the official Interchange Development
Group IRC chat server, kindly hosted and
administered by Cursor Software. Join
the #interchange channel. Please
note that no unattended IRC clients or bots are
allowed. If you're interested in attending
"scheduled meetings" then please feel free to email the IRC Operator or
raise the subject in either the
#interchange channel, or on the
interchange-users mail
list. If enough interest is shown then
scheduled meetings can be easily arranged.
Archive of articles posted to the official
interchange-users mail list. The
archive is updated daily and is searchable.
You can subscribe to the interchange-users
mail list by clicking here. If
you use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express then
please read the outlook-quotefix notes
(above), and install the utility before you even
think about posting to the mail list.
The MARC archive maintains a copy of the
interchange-users mail list, which can be
found here.
is a very low-volume mail list, which is
intended to keep the various web hosts from
posting their spam to the
interchange-users mail list. Don't
let the low-volume aspect of the mail list fool
you - the list is monitored by Interchange
consultants and web designers, so feel free to
post your requests for paid help. You can
either subscribe to the mail list or simply post
to interchange-biz@icdevgroup.org.
The mail list subscribers will post their
responses back to you directly, rather than to
the mail list.
This site has an installed version of the
"Construct" and "Foundation" demos for you to
look at. It also allows access to the
default administration system so you can monkey
about with the live demo. If you want to
demonstrate, beyond all reasonable doubt, that an
Interchange bug exists then try to provide
instructions on how it can be made to show itself
on the live demo.
This excellent tutorial website, published by
Synesmedia,
covers subjects which range from "What is
Interchange?" and "Interchange basics" through to
advanced topics such as "Writing credit card
interfaces".
Various Interchange packages, kindly shared by
Lyn St George of Zolotek, including
a payment module, a new Interchange, a Webmin
module and various OS/2-related
packages.
Trust me - there's nothing interesting on this
page.
If any of the information on this page is out of
date, or complete and utter nonsense, please
let us know. You will have a warm inner glow
for the rest of the day.
Advertisements provided by Google
The above links (if any) were automatically selected
by Google's state-of-the-art advertisement relevancy
algorithm. One day it might even display an
advert that's useful to Interchange users in some
way. Keep looking, it's bound to happen
eventually. Perhaps a few more keywords, such as
INTERCHANGE, might help it to find INTERCHANGE adverts
that are relevant to INTERCHANGE users. Come on
Google, you must have some web design and server
hosting adverts in there somewhere.
Please note that we don't necessarily endorse any of
the advertisers, products or services listed in this
section. Beware of hosts that attempt to sell you
Interchange services in conjunction with the CPanel
administration tool. See this
page for more CPanel-related information.
Suggestions and contributions
If you have any suggestions on how this new site
should be arranged or run, or would like to contribute,
please contact us. We're trying to
collect demo catalogues, Perl snippets, UserTags,
payment gateway code, HOWTO-style
documents and other useful Interchange-related
goodies. Please submit anything you can.
The author of any contribution will retain the
copyright and will be fully acknowledged on this
website. Please ensure that any contributions
are covered by the GPL or
another genuinely free license. We will not
accept contributions that are crippled by restrictions
placed on their free redistribution or use.
Most of the information on this website was found
and published without the original author(s)
specifically submitting anything to us. We've
been holding our breath while waiting for unsolicited
content contributions and we're starting to look
unwell. You know what to do.
Donations
If you find
this site useful then please send whatever you consider
this site's continued existence is worth to you.
All donations will go towards the cost of keeping this
site alive, hosted and frequently updated. Please click here to go to our
donations page.
If you don't feel that a
direct donation of funds is appropriate then please
remember that we will be paid a small commission on any
items you buy after following any of the
Amazon.com links on this website. Please take
a look at our recommended books page to see a few of the
books we think you might find useful.
RTFM buttons, banners and other graphics
Feel free to put the RTFM button on your site, along
with a link back here. We would love to see your
ideas for a better button or logo. All
submissions will be displayed on our graphics page.
T-Shirts
We're thinking about producing some RTFM T-shirts,
but will probably only bother to get them made in large
and extra-large sizes. All you XXXL
fat bloaters out there had better stop eating pies
right now if you want to fit into one of these
things! We won't be getting them made for quite a
while, unless a huge crowd of angry peasants with
torches storms our castle demanding RTFM-branded
clothing products, so you have time to implement that
emergency diet.
Legal nonsense
Most people won't be surprised when we state the
fact that Red Hat
is a trademark of Red Hat, Inc. and (gasp) Microsoft
is a trademark of the Microsoft Corporation. We
acknowledge that all other trademarks are bound to be
owned by someone or other. If you own a
trademark, trade name, company name or anything else
mentioned anywhere on this website then just consider
yourself lucky that there's no charge. All your base are belong to us.
No animals were harmed during the production of this
website.
This website is partially funded by donations from
our sponsors

you may donate whatever
amount you see fit. All donations will be used to

updated.
